Jesus Doesn’t Leave Us Hanging. | Matt Hammit

Sometimes it would be easier to stop trying so hard to follow Jesus. Matt Hammit (writer and vocalist of “Lead Me“) has felt that. But here is one thing about Jesus that will help you keep going. Combat those feelings of weariness and inferiority and know that you don’t have to go it alone!

Read (from the New Living Translation)

There’s a lot to learn and there’s so much we don’t know! But Jesus keeps teaching us everyday and never leaves us hanging.

We see Jesus teaching and investing in people throughout the book of Luke. In today’s reading we see more examples of how much He spent time instilling truth into the people around Him while here on earth. The cool part is, His character and desire to teach us remains to this day.

Luke 21:29-37

Then he gave them this illustration: “Notice the fig tree, or any other tree. When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near. I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

“Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.”

Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and each evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives.

Note: If you’ve read the Bible before, you may notice there are no chapter or verse marks in today’s reading. We got this idea from the Immerse Bible. They’ve taken the entire story of Jesus and stripped it of all distractions – this way it’s a more relaxed read. Like you’re reading a beautiful story. You should check it out!
