Fear That Cancer Will Have the Final Word | Natalie Grant

Ready for Day 2? Singer/songwriter, Natalie Grant shares the power-packed Scriptures that help her face fear every day!

Read (from the New Living Translation)

We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:5

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

Romans 8:6

Go Deep

Have you ever felt guilty for feeling afraid? Natalie gets it. When the word “cancer” entered her life, she was terrified. Cancer threatened to take her voice away and change everything about her life. But she stood firm and learned some powerful lessons about dealing with fear. She tells the full tale in today’s video.

Natalie recorded this song before she ever knew she would face cancer, but it’s now taken on a whole new meaning for her. The lyrics are powerful and a great reminder of the truth Natalie shared in her video. It’s called, “More Than Anything.”

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

Paul divides people into two categories: those who are dominated by their sinful nature, and those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit. All of us would be in the first category if Jesus hadn’t offered us a way out. Once we have said yes to Jesus, we will want to continue following him, because his way brings life and peace. Daily we must consciously choose to center our life on God. Use the Bible to discover God’s guidelines, and then, follow them. In every perplexing situation, ask yourself What would Jesus want me to do? When the Holy Spirit points out what is right, do it eagerly. For more on our sinful nature versus our new life in Christ, see Romans 6:6-8; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:3-15.

Such a great message! I was so touched after watching the single Dad who raised me go through cancer surgery a few weeks ago. My mother died from stomach cancer when she was 38. I’ve always related to the character Much Afraid in the book Hinds Feet on High Places. Such a good reminder to take every though captive by focusing on who God is.
