Season 2 of The Chosen has moved its audience with sometimes controversial storylines. For example, Mary Magdalene’s slides back into her old lifestyle, and Matthew shows an obvious and almost romantic concern for Mary Magdalene. Because of that storyline, the show received a fair amount of controversy for the liberties it took from the Biblical narrative.
Dallas Jenkins, the creator of the series, continues to respond to the praise and the criticism with humility by saying, “We knew that this would be a little bit controversial, but we believe it’s extraordinarily Biblical to show someone who has a deep, deep struggle to still have war with their flesh after they’re saved by Jesus.”
In the trailer for the finale, it’s clear something big is about to happen. Will it be another controversial twist? All we know so far is the trailer ends with with Simon Peter saying, “Master, it’s time.” Tune in July 11th at 8pm to see what’s going down.
