At the Oscars, Tyler Perry said his mom taught him to refuse hate. Then he dedicated his award to his audience by saying, “I want to take this… award and dedicate it to anyone who wants to stand in the middle… because that’s where healing happens. That’s where conversation happens. That’s where change happens. It happens in the middle. So anyone who wants to meet me in the middle to refuse hate, to refuse blanket judgment, and to help lift someone’s feet off the ground, this one is for you too!”

Perry often releases films with underlying Christian themes. In fact, he’s created 17 feature films, 20 stage plays, 7 television shows, and a New York Times bestselling book. He also is best known for playing Madea, a well-meaning, hot-tempered, gun-toting grandma, who loves her friends by being there for them in hard situations and offering a mix of good and bad advice.
