“Got a lot of bad days still coming but a sweet ever after,” opens the chorus and acknowledges the struggle of life and the overwhelming hope of eternity in heaven. The tension of the now and then strike all the right chords to make me want to swagger through the painful present with an absolute certainty of an awesome future.
The chorus ends with, “The sun’s comin’ up on the stairway to heaven in the sweet ever after.” Even though Bear and Ellie aren’t in their 20’s anymore, this song reminds me that in the context of eternity, we’re all young.
