Luke Smallbone Talks Addiction, Marriage, and Grace in This Honest Interview

https://youtu.be/1l7XPTP7-rQ

For richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health.” We’ve all heard someone recite these vows during a wedding ceremony. Maybe you have stood at the altar and said these words yourself.

Luke Smallbone from for KING & COUNTRY talks about how these vows aren’t any less important after the big day but even more so as you and your partner journey through life together.

The meaning of those vows were tested when his wife, Courtney, became addicted to prescription drugs during the pregnancy of their second child. Luke talks through the struggles of loving an addict and why it’s necessary to live out the gospel in your own life, not just for you but for them.

The same grace we feel like we deserve at times, needs to be cast on other people when they, to be honest, don’t deserve it. And that’s when grace becomes real. Because when you don’t deserve something and you’re treated with gentleness and you’re treated with kindness, that’s when the gospel becomes real.

That is pretty powerful words about addiction and grace. I commend Luke on sharing Courtney’s story. Words don’t mean as much as action does. It is true that we all deserve grace!

Beautifully spoken words from the heart. It is so true that your actions means way more then your word. Thank you for sharing your story of true love in action. God bless you Luke and your wife.

As a former addict, I loved Luke’s story, and how true it is that grace love and mercy need to be shown. It’s one thing to say we’re Christian, but another to show it. Thank you for this uplifting testimony.
