Jordin Sparks and FOR KING + COUNTRY’s Performance Will Remind You That You Are Enough

You might recognize Jordin Sparks from her pop/R&B hits “No Air” and “Battlefield” or you may remember her as the youngest American Idol winner, who took home the coveted silver microphone trophy in Season 6 at only 17 years old.

While Jordin’s songs make for a great road trip playlist, her music has never been in the Christian genre. So you might be wondering, how did this unlikely collaboration on FOR KING + COUNTRY‘s “Love Me Like I Am” happen?

God has been present in Jordin’s life throughout her career. In 2017, she openly spoke about her faith, and after the birth of her son, she said that her “Faith became so much deeper because [she] caught a glimpse of the love the Father has for us”.

In an interview with Christian Post, she recollected about her faith being moved because of this realization, saying:

“It changed the things I said ‘yes’ to and the things I said ‘no’ to, and it made me realize that my joy doesn’t come from this world. My joy comes from Jesus and knowing that if all of this fell away, if I lost everything, ‘I’d still be okay.”

The song “Love Me Like I Am” processes through being loved by God for who you are, even when you feel undeserving. In moments where you feel alone, isolated, and unlovable, this song is such a beautiful reminder of the faithfulness of God.

“It’s amazing that You can love me like I am. And even when I can’t, You still love me as I am. Oh, I don’t know how You do it and I know I put You through it. Yeah, it’s amazing that You can love me like I am.”

It’s amazing to see Jordin standing firm in the truth that no matter what, we are all loved by God. No one is outside of His grace!
