Christian Singer Gets the Surprise of a Lifetime From Lauren Daigle at American Idol Audition

20 year old Megan Danielle was mid-song performing “You Say” when two time Grammy winner Lauren Daigle herself snuck in to finish the song with her. Megan was absolutely surprised, however, she finished the performance as a duet with Lauren by her side! After the song was over, Megan and the judges were blown away at what had just happened.

It was incredible to hear the story of Megan’s music journey and see the similarities she shares with her biggest musical influence. She starting singing in a band when she was 18 years old where they would play in different bars and venues. After one performance, her biggest fan, her pawpaw Chuck, pulled her aside and asked her how she could use her singing for God.

Lauren resonated with Megan’s story of her grandfather and they even discovered both their grandpas were named Chuck. Lauren laughed and said, “The Chucks are up stairs having a good time!” and Katy Perry commented, “God has a sense of humor every once in a while”

You may not remember but, Lauren Daigle, was also a contestant on American Idol. In Season 9, she made it to the top 24 and she auditioned again in Season 11. A “no” from Simon Cowell was the catalyst that pushed Lauren to switch from mainstream music to becoming an exclusively Christian artist. She no longer wanted to sing for the approval of others but instead to glorify God with her voice!
