Candace Cameron Bure Speaks Out on How God Changed Her Life

Whether you’ve grown up watching Full House or you’re familiar with her time on The View, Candace Cameron Bure is a name you know. She’s an actress, author and sister to the to the Left Behind actor, Kirk Cameron.

Candace is outspoken and unashamed about her faith. Often acting as the media’s punching bag for voicing her Christian worldview.

Even though she is a believer that carefully walks the line of gospel-centered living and Hollywood, most people don’t get the opportunity to see how her faith came to be.

The Cameron kids didn’t grow up in a Christian home and it wasn’t until their parents started to consider divorce that the family attended church for the first time. She was 12 years old and even though she didn’t understand what was fully going on, she knew that she enjoyed being there. One day, at the end of a sermon, the pastor asked if anyone would like to give their life to Jesus. If so, to pray the sinner’s prayer and that is exactly what Candace did.

After she had accepted Jesus, she got older and her teen years didn’t reflect Jesus well. It wasn’t until her early 20’s that the gospel started to become a reality to her.

After her first daughter was born, she started to think about how she was supposed to teach her kids about Jesus when she hadn’t even read the Bible in its entirety. This launched her into a new season of her faith.

Up until this point, Candace thought she was a good person, she obeyed her parents and did everything she was supposed to. She looked around and her life wasn’t going down a crazy path like other people. She knew that Jesus saves us from our sin, but she didn’t consider herself a sinner.

It wasn’t until she began comparing herself to God’s standard and not the standard of the world that she realized that she wasn’t good at all. But that was exactly why Jesus came, taking the punishment she deserved and giving her freedom.

Once her faith started to transform, this shaped her life and career. Her faith began to be the beacon of light that guided her decisions. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, she started to consider what projects were worth taking and which ones weren’t. For the first time, her actions were guided by what brought Glory to God above all else.

Candace’s understanding of who she was and who God was changed the direction of her life and career, making her the brave, outspoken, unashamed woman she is today.

We all have a moment that God reveals himself to us and our lives are changed forever. What was your moment?
