An Asbury University Chapel Service Has Turned Into a Viral Revival

Revivals are not uncommon at Asbury University. Since 1905 students have been showing up rain or shine to be a part of what God is doing on campus.

Located in Wilmore, Kentucky the chapel service turned spontaneous revival has people coming from all over to join. What started on Wednesday, February 8 as a normal Chapel service with students and faculty joining together to worship God, has become the longest church service at Asbury since 1970.

Bus loads full of people are being brought in to worship along side other believers, in hopes to be a part of something bigger, something that God is doing right in the middle of Kentucky. Driving in from North Carolina, Lloyd Nibaber explained that it was “light coming through” the darkness as he walked into the worship service.

And crazy enough, the revival is not only drawing people in through the physical doors of the auditorium, but #asburyrevival has gone viral on TikTok, the hashtag alone garnering over 24 million views.

It doesn’t really matter where you live, darkness and brokenness are everywhere. And whether it’s in person or on social media, people are being drawn in by this beautiful demonstration of faith. In a time where confusion and chaos seem to be the norm, the act of turning to God and surrendering all to him is just the reminder we all need.

I pray that Asbury is just the beginning and revival takes place in our hearts and our communities around the world.
