Tim Tebow is Married and I AM Okay!

If you are a Christian single lady, the news of Tim Tebow‘s marriage to Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters may be, well, a less-than-great to you. Let’s face it, while you’ve been prayerfully believing for a husband, you may have specifically been hoping that Tim Tebow would show up at your doorstep and look at you like this:

If that is you, then the moment you heard the news that Tim is officially off the market was probably a moment filled with all kinds of emotions!

Heart break, sadness, maybe even a few tears! I feel you!

When I discovered Tim’s news, I quickly saw a similar theme. My newsfeed looks something like this:

“Tim Tebow is married and I’m not okay “

“Do you hear that? That’s the sound of every single Christian girl weeping at the news of Tim Tebow getting marriage.”

I mean, I understand. He is a handsome, kind, generous man who loves Jesus! These days, guys like Tebow seem few and far between!

But I have a different reaction for you to consider. A thought that may challenge us, but will make us better. What if instead of letting the news send us into a spiral of I’m going to be single forever!  and “Why her? Why not me?” and “Will I ever find MY someone?”

Let’s change the way we look at this.

Let me be clear. Yes, I am talking about Tim Tebow getting married, but I’m also talking about the next time your friend gets engaged, your sister has a baby, your best friend gets your dream job, or what ever situation you find yourself in that has the tendency to send you spiraling in self-doubt and disappointment.

In those moments, let’s STOP. Give yourself a minute or two (or 90) to be sad. Feel all the feels!

But then… choose joy!

Choose to be excited for them! It is totally a choice! I know this firsthand. Choose to see how incredible it is that God did that in their life! See it for what it is – a beautiful story!

It’s going to strengthen your own faith, builds great friendships, and makes your everyday life a little less sad. Choosing joy in these moments not only helps your relationships flourish, it helps keep you healthy, too.

“Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.” (Romans 12:15 NLT)

And let me tell you this… you are not the exception! God has not forgotten you! He has just as beautiful of a story planned for you. Just because it doesn’t look like YOU planned it, doesn’t mean it won’t be amazing! Do you trust Him enough to wait for your incredible story?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.”

(Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT)

So. Will you all join me in congratulating, Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters? Let’s be the ones celebrating with them and believing that our story will be just as amazing because it will be exactly what God has been planning for us!

If you’re still having a hard time today, it’s ok. I get it! I would encourage you to dig a little deeper and talk to God about what’s really bothering you. He can handle all your hurt, your questions, and your disappointments! He wants to be there for you and bring you deeper into relationship with the One who made you.

What about us guys crying our eyes out about not being able to get our chance at Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters? OMG – Miss Universe 2017 is off the market? Take me now, God. I can’t go on another day. Oh, well. I think Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018 might still be available. There is, alas, still hope.
