Tim Allen Keeps Christ in Christmas in New Disney+ Series “The Santa Clauses”

Christmas dreams are coming true for all of the 90s kids with the release of the new Disney+ series, The Santa Clauses.

Scott Calvin is more than Santa Clause, he’s also a father and husband. The series gets an inside look at the Clause family and as he gets closer to his 65th birthday, Santa starts to realize that it might be time for him to consider retirement so he can spend more time with his wife and two kids.

But, the coolest thing about the show is that Tim Allen, who not only plays Santa but also is one of the executive producers, made a point to keep ‘Christ’ in Christmas. Advocating to get rid of any characters like ghost and goblins, saying

“No, this is Christ-mas. Its Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday”.

“We don’t have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it. That’s what this is about. If you want to get into Santa Claus, you’re gonna have to go back to history, and it’s all about religion.”

To hear this part of the interview with TheWrap skip to 1:12.

Allen shares that episodes 5 and 6 in particular have religious undertone and that the show in its entirety “honors the heart of Christmas.” He also pointed out during an interview on the Kelly Clarkson Show that

“[Christmas] is about giving. It’s really important to understand … Getting is what we’ve gotten used to. But the whole thing is about what it’s like to give.”

For some, it comes as no surprise that Tim Allen is standing up for faith-based ideas to be incorporated into the series. Even though he is known for his sitcoms and comedy shows, he has always expressed that his faith is very valuable to him. And while he never claims to be the perfect Christian, it’s that point exactly that has shown he understands his need for Jesus.

Starting to drink at age 10, losing his father at age 11 and spending time in federal prison for drug trafficking- Tim Allen has had a difficult life. For many years he didn’t like the idea of church and considered himself a cynic. After 24 years of sobriety and years of struggling with his faith, Allen now refers to God as “The Builder.”

Even through all the pain he’s endured and years of struggle, Tim Allen is quick to speak up about what he believes. From incorporating religious themes in The Santa Clauses to fighting to have Jesus put into the script of his sitcom, Last Man Standing, we are so glad another person of influence in Hollywood is finding ways to keep faith themes in entertainment!

Tim Allen is reminding us, we should be unashamed of the gospel, no matter where we are in our faith journey.

So, if you’re up for a light-hearted and family focused story that gives you all the Christmas time feels with a touch of nostalgia, check out The Santa Clauses!

Plus, how cool is it that another generation gets to experience the MVP Santa Clause, Tim Allen!?
