The Only Country Christian Playlist You’ll Ever Need

It’s not uncommon for Country artists to sing about Jesus in their music. The first song that pops into my mind is “Jesus Talk the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood, who recently released a gospel album with amazing covers of classic hymns. She is joined by so many others including Randy Travis, Reba McEntire, and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts who aren’t afraid to let others know in who their faith lies.

If you were raised in the south like me and love to hear a voice with country twang then you probably turn your Christian radio station up a little louder when you hear voices like Zach Williams, Anne Wilson, and the band CAIN.

I compiled a list of 10 country flavored songs by my favorite CCM artists to make the perfect Country Christian playlist! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

1) “My Jesus” by Anne Wilson

Anne Wilson, is still new to the Christian music scene but received massive radio attention with the lead single from her debut album, “My Jesus.” Having grown up in Kentucky she has an undeniable country music influence in her voice and lyrics. If you love this song be sure to give the version featuring Crowder a listen as well!

Watch Anne’s Grand Ole Opry debut here.

2) “All Joy No Stress” by Rhett Walker

Rhett Walker, who you know from “Gospel Song” and “Believer,” is not only a Grammy nominated artist but also a self-proclaimed redneck. His recent single “All Joy No Stress,” is the kind of song that makes you want to cruise down a back road with your windows down. The music video checks all the good ole’ country boy boxes with cowboy hats, trucks, overalls, four wheelers, and true joy from Jesus.

3) “There Was Jesus” by Zach Williams ft. Dolly Parton

Zach Williams was best known for his Grammy award winning song “Chain Breaker.” But since its release in 2019 his song “There Was Jesus” featuring Country music legend Dolly Parton has taken Christian music by storm. Having grown up in Arkansas he has an undeniable country influence in his music. Hear Zach Williams talk about how he overcame crippling fear.

4) “Thank You Lord” by Chris Tomlin ft. Thomas Rhett and Florida Georgia Line

Chris Tomlin is one of the most influential worship leaders of all time. Born in Texas, he’s best known for his songs “How Great Is Our God” & “Good Good Father.”

After an unlikely friendship, Tomlin was invited on stage at a Florida Georgia Line concert where he proceeded to lead the unsuspecting, but very receptive, crowd in worship. This friendship sparked the concept for Chris Tomlin’s most recent album “Chris Tomlin & Friends” which features several country artists including Thomas Rhett, Russell Dickerson, & Brett Young.

5) “Who You Are To Me” by Chris Tomlin and Lady A

Another song off the “Chris Tomlin & Friends” album, “Who You Are to Me” ft. Lady A. Listen here as Hillary Scott shares what it’s like to trust God through the hard moments.

6)”Good God Almighty” by Crowder

Crowder, formerly of the David Crowder Band, grew up in Texarkana, Texas. Crowder has such a distinctive beard, we are positive he’s been mistaken for Willie Robertson from Duck Dynasty more than once! In true country boy fashion, he has been spotted on the GMA Dove Awards red carpet swapping out the traditional suit and tie for a flannel and baseball cap.

7) “River of Life” by Mac Powell

If you were a Christian in the 90s and early 2000s then you’ve definitely heard of Third Day. The band’s lead singer, Mac Powell, is originally from Alabama but grew up in Georgia and is a true family man.

What many people don’t know is that Mac met Third Day’s guitarist, Mark Lee, while they were still in high school. Their first band was called “Nuclear Hoedown,” and if that’s not country… I don’t know what is.

Mac Powell launched a solo Country music career in 2018, but as of 2021 he is back in the Christian music scene.

8) “The Commission” by CAIN

The band CAIN is a Christian Country trio comprised of siblings Taylor, Madison, & Logan Cain. These 3 grew up in Alabama where their dad was a pastor. They are sure to blow you away with their incredible harmonies in this Songs From a Mug where they cover songs by Kenny Loggins, The Gaithers, & Zach Williams.

9) “Don’t Tread on Me” by We the Kingdom

We the Kingdom, is another family band made up of father Ed Cash, his brother Scott, daughter Franni Rae Cash, son Martin Cash, and family friend Andrew Bergthold. The band won the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year in 2020. Their style is unique because of decades of musical influences from their home in Nashville and the countless songs Ed Cash has been involved with behind the scenes.

10) Where the Bluegrass Grows by Steven Curtis Chapman

Steven Curtis Chapman, is one of the father’s of Contemporary Christian music. He let his country roots show when he released an all Bluegrass album, “Deeper Roots” in 2019. Chapman, has performed several times at the Grand Ole’ Opry and is soon to be the first Christian artist to be awarded the BMI Icon Award.
