We all know the commercials are what everyone will be talking about the day after the Super Bowl. So, this year when someone asks you what your favorite Super Bowl commercial was, you might just get the chance to tell them about Jesus.
An organization called “He Gets Us” is using the power of mainstream media to tell the message of who Jesus is, and they’re launching a 100 million dollar plus campaign to do it. Their focus is to help people understand “Who is the real Jesus of the Bible?” and to clear up misconceptions around who He is.
On Football’s Favorite Sunday, “He Gets Us” is going to reach millions of people across the country with two Super Bowl commercials that aim to help raise the respect and relevance of Jesus.
“We are also about sharing Jesus’ openness—to people that others might have excluded. His message went out to all. We want to provide an accessible on-ramp to people who may see Christians as hypocritical or judgmental. We know that Jesus offers a higher invitation. He taught and offered radical compassion and stood up for the marginalized.”
Let’s face it. We’re living in a world where Jesus is rarely welcomed. In fact, He is often ridiculed and criticized. Maybe it’s not that different from the experience Jesus encountered with people while He lived on Earth.
Jesus was here to bring us the ultimate story of love, but now many people see the opposite. They label Christians as a group of hate.
In the world of sports, public stands of faith have gotten huge attention, especially in football where Tim Tebow often sparked debate kneeling to pray during games. Most recently, an ESPN reporter took a break from the news to publicly pray for Damar Hamlin after he suffered cardiac arrest during a game. This prayer and the prayers of his teammates and peers caught the attention of our nation and are reminding our country of the power there is in prayer.
Now, “He Gets Us” is targeting the biggest sporting event of the year, the Super Bowl, to reach millions with the message of Jesus.
Their ads have already seen over 431 MM views on YouTube and over 19,000 churches are partnering with this campaign to make the name of Jesus known. Other Christian media groups such as Christianity Today, Relevant magazine and YouVersion are joining their efforts in what is being called the biggest marketing campaign to spread the name of Jesus.
The Super Bowl is just the beginning. “He Gets Us” is a multi-year effort to raise the respect and relevance of Jesus in the United States. Join the movement!
He gets us!! Amen to that. The world is searching for the peace and joy that only comes from above. If we strive to love as Jesus loved, the world would be a more beautiful place. 🌸
