Do You Feel Like You’re Always Fighting a Battle?

When your eyes open in the morning, do you feel like you’re already fighting a battle before your feet have even touched the floor? The jobs you didn’t get finished yesterday are still hanging around. There’s still not enough time, energy, or motivation to do what NEEDS to be done, much less the things you want to do. Then there’s an enemy that knows exactly where to attack. Sometimes it’s a big hit and sometimes it’s a subtle distraction that keeps you from what God has planned for you today. You feel like you’ve been defeated before you’ve even been caffeinated!

BAD NEWS: The battles aren’t going to disappear.
GOOD NEWS: God is fighting for us.

So what do we do? We pray and we praise. There’s also a few great songs to help us out.

We Pray.

Exodus 14:14 NLT “The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

This doesn’t mean we do nothing and wait for God to fix everything. It means we can trust God. We don’t try to jump ahead of God to make things easier or more comfortable for ourselves. We pray and let God guide us to the solution He already has planned.

Phil Wickham’s song “Battle Belongs” reminds us that our viewpoint is limited, but God sees the purpose of the battles. So, we fight on our knees, praying to the God who can give us supernatural perspective and fights for us.

With God fighting our battles, there’s nothing to fear. We can put worry behind us and move through our day in confidence.

We Praise

God has never lost a battle (and He never will).

Isaiah 6:1 NLT “It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the temple.”

The robe of an ancient King symbolized his power. When one King would defeat another, he would cut off a piece of the defeated kings robe and sew it on to the end of his own. So, when Isaiah tells us that “train of His robe filled the temple”, it illustrates our God always wins! He has NEVER lost a battle and His robe abundantly fills the temple.

“Never Lost” by Elevation Worship featuring Tauren Wells energizes us to focus on the assurance of God’s power in battle. Make sure you stick around until 6:56 where Tauren reminds us what happens when we praise. He also brings some fresh perspective about how God doesn’t waste a battle. What seems like an obstacle, God can redeem and use to help us get to where we need to be.

Michael W. Smith’s “Surrounded” tells us that when we feel surrounded by struggles, we are also surrounded by God. We fight our battles by praising God. Praise positions our heart in a place of submission to God. We are acknowledging that God is in control, and He knows what is best.

God equips us.

God gives us HIS armor. In Ephesians 6:13-18, we learn that HIS truth holds everything together. His righteousness protects us. We can move forward in peace because we know God has conquered sin. We have faith that God will defend us from the attacks of the evil one. Our salvation gives us confidence in our eternal security and the Word of God is full of power and guiding truth.

So, add these songs to your playlist to remind you that God is fighting for you.

Tomorrow when your eyes open, remember you have armor. Praise God for who He is. Pray that He will guide you through the battles, so your feet will hit the floor in victory.

Love this, something I need right now in my life, that feels overwhelming every where I turn. I am going to save this and read it again and again.
