Being a parent is scary, being a first time parent is even scarier, that’s why it takes a special kind of faith and trust in the Lord to be first time parents to twins. But that is exactly what Christian music artist and American Idol season 11 contestant Colton Dixon and his wife Annie became.
On August 18th, they welcomed two new tiny miracles into their family. Ava “Dior” and Athens Elizabeth are, as Colton puts it, “the CUTEST EVER 😍😍😍”
But these two sweet girls had a scary entrance into the world that called their faith-filled parents to pray.
Colton told People Magazine that after “the perfect pregnancy,” the delivery was a completely different story. And after 30 hours of labor, his wife Annie went in for an emergency cesarean section.
“We never expected our little Ava Dior would arrive in the world without a pulse. In that moment, we had a choice: faith or fear. We watched and prayed as the doctors and nurses resuscitated our daughter back to life.”
“Faith over fear” is a lesson the world has been trying to teach itself lately but sometimes in life our fear grows so big that we simply forget to have faith. Our minds are easily tricked into putting on blinders that keeps us solely focused on our worst fears. But if you can refocus that attention on Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, the God of miracles and peace, then all your fears will pale in comparison to our God and what can do.
Psalms 107:28-29a says, “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper.” (NIV)
“After several days in the NICU, Dior was able to join us at home, happy and healthy. That was a great day… Life doesn’t always happen the way we want it to, but we believe that life is more about the way we respond to things than what happens to us. We thank God and our amazing doctors and nurses for our two little miracles.”

We originally wanted to keep this story in the dark, but realized that this is a story of hope that needs to be heard. Just because a situation looks dark or grim doesn’t mean that you agree with it or give it control over the outcome. . God says “I have given you the keys to the kingdom. Whatever you bind on earth will bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” . Sometimes we have to fight. Our word are a weapon. Our praise is a weapon. God declared us victorious as His sons and daughters, but according to His word, we have to agree with Him… . Also, are they not the CUTEST EVER 😍😍😍. #linkinbio
Earlier this year Colton released “Miracles” and we know this song has to have a whole new meaning to Colton & Annie now that God has blessed them with two new tiny miracles.
