7 Songs To Help You Through the Storms of Life

Help the Victims of Hurricane Ida through Convoy of Hope

I remember as a little girl being woken up in the middle of the night to loud booming thunder and flashes of lightning coming through my curtains, lighting up my bedroom wall. I ran to find my dad who held me in his arms and told me not to be afraid. He said, “Thunder is just the sound of God rearranging the furniture in heaven.”  I remember that being more confusing than it was comforting…I just wanted the storm to be over.

I also remember in 1999 when Hurricane Floyd put a tree through the center of my childhood home.

Whether it’s a physical storm you are seeking comfort from or a difficult storm of life you are facing right now, you are not alone.

I think of the story in Daniel where King Nebuchadnezzar threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fiery furnace. God was with them and even appeared as a fourth man standing in the fire. Because of their faith He never left their side and He protected them,

Daniel 3:27 says, “Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!”

In Mark 4, Jesus and his disciples were crossing a lake when a fierce storm arose. The disciples were terrified as their boat filled with water, and the wind and the waves roared. They were scared for their lives. When Jesus saw this he rebuked the wind and told the waves to be silent. In a moment the wind ceased and the waves stilled and there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed that even the wind and the waves obey Jesus.

THAT IS THE GOD WE SERVE.

Your Father in heaven is close to you and if you seek His face I promise He will meet you in the middle of the storm to hold you in His arms and tell you not to be afraid.

Here are 7 songs to help you keep your eyes on the God who will never leave your side:

1) Casting Crowns – Praise You in This Storm

2) Ryan Stevenson – Eye of the Storm

3)Hope Darst – Peace Be Still

4) tobyMac – Help is on the Way (Maybe Midnight)

5) CAIN – Yes He Can

6) Jordan St Cyr – Fires

7) Tasha Layton – Into the Sea (It’s Gonna Be Ok)

Sometimes the reason you’re not alone in a storm is because someone else felt called to step in and help. It’s hard to know good ways to help, but if you feel called to help those suffering from the devastation of Hurricane Ida, Convoy of Hope is delivering hope right now.

Great songs! I would love to add the 2 following songs by the band Lifehouse, as they are also great songs for people who may be going through difficult times in life. The song titles are “Storm” and “ Flight.” One other song that I feel would also be appropriate is the song “Rainy Day” by the band Big Dismal.
