10 Songs to Prepare Your Heart for Easter

In this season, when the flowers are blooming and the trees are bursting with new life, we get to celebrate Easter! We remember what Christ did on the cross and proclaim the joy we have in His resurrection. As you go through a busy week, that may include preparing Easter dinner, filling up Easter baskets or decorating eggs, add these songs to your playlist to help you focus on the true meaning of Easter!

1. “Sunday Is Coming” by Phil Wickham

We can celebrate the cross because we know that Jesus’ death was not the end of the story. “Friday’s good cause Sunday is coming.” Now Jesus reigns on the throne as we wait for Him to come again to bring us to live with Him forever. Hallelujah, He’s alive!

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?” | John 11:25-26

2. “Graves Into Gardens” by Elevation Worship

Death has no power over us as God transforms our life. He takes what was lifeless, hopeless and shameful and turns it into something beautiful and joyful that brings Him glory. Because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we can live in freedom.

Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. | Ephesians 4:21-23

3. “Glorious Day” by Casting Crowns

As we wait for the glorious day when Christ returns to make everything right and take us to live with Him forever, we remember the greatest love story ever told. The gospel reminds us of the price Jesus paid for us and the power He has over death. One day the trials of this life will be over and because of Christ’s sacrifice, we will spend eternity with God.

And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God’s Son from heaven—Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment. | 1 Thessalonians 1:10

4. “I Believe It” by Jon Reddick

Jesus left His home in heaven to live among and make a way for us to live with him forever. It’s not just a story. We declare this truth, believing He lived, He died for us, and He rose again. His Spirit is with us giving us power until He comes again! What else are you believing God for?

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” | Acts 16:31

5. “Resurrection Power” by Chris Tomlin

We know that the blood of Jesus is the payment for our sins but his resurrection is what allows us to have hope of life after death. There’s no need to be held back by worry, guilt or shame. We can live every day in that power, knowing that because of the resurrection we no longer are bound by sin and the grave.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. | Ephesians 3:20

6. “He Lives” by Newsboys

“He is Risen! He is Risen! He’s Alive!” Jesus was not held back by the powers of darkness that were working to keep Him from accomplishing His mission. Instead, our sin and shame were left in the grave. All honor, praise, power and glory we give to Him, forever.

Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.” | Matthew 28:5-6

7. “Hallelujah For The Cross” by Chris McClarney

Gratitude. There is nothing we could ever do to earn our salvation, because we don’t have that kind of power. That power belongs to God and without the cross, we would be a prisoner, lost in darkness. Thank you, Jesus for the gift of freedom through your blood.

8. “God So Loved” by We the Kingdom

God is good. He loved us so much He sent us Son to die for us. Salvation is available for everyone. Jesus is waiting for you to bring your pain, your failures, and your addictions to Him. Whoever believes in Him will live forever.

For this is how God loved the world: He his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. | John 3:16

9. “Because He Lives (Amen)” by Matt Maher

“I’m alive because He lives.” God’s power over the grave gives us freedom to live. His mercy on us means we can enjoy the beauty of everyday moments. There is no need to worry about what will happen tomorrow, because we know God has a perfect plan.

For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. | Romans 6:4

10. “All My Hope” by Crowder ft. Tauren Wells

Knowing where we were before the blood of Jesus transformed our life reminds us where our hope is. We don’t have to live in our past, we can testify that our life has truly been changed. Our story can help others find the same forgiveness and find true hope in Jesus.

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. | Hebrews 10:23
